FSA Event: B.O.S.E.S.
October 16, 2008
Why:
Every October, FSA puts on a campus event called BOSES–Bringing Our Spirits and Energies in Solidarity–in celebration of Filipino History Month. At this event we showcase our own performing aspects, as well as guest speakers (ranging from poets, to community activists, to UCSC alum) to spark discussion about issues in Filipino Heritage.
Our theme this year is Our Space: Claiming & Creating Communities. Our goal is to explore modes of Filipino establishment and expression here at UCSC, and to honor the historic efforts that have brought us to this point.
Who:
The event will feature performances by:
Pagkakaisa Dance Troupe (traditional Filipino dance)
People Power (Acting troop)
Isang Himig (a capella choir)
Alay (FSA’s art and literary aspect)
Rainbow Theater
As well as presentations by
Hugo & Lauren (E2 class facilitators)
Raul Ebio (GEAR UP unit supervisor)
Eden Jequinto (UCSC alum and community outreach)
All UCSC students and faculty are welcome. You do not have to be Filipino. We hope to create a safe and informative space to a diverse audience.
Where:
Oakes Learning Center
When:
Monday, October 27th
8:00pm-10:30pm
How:
The Filipino Student Association wishes to make this event accessible to people with disabilities. If you need accomidation, please call SOAR at 459-2934
